October 20, 2012

Greetings from Pennsylvania!

I would like to introduce you to your fellow members of the 2013 National Jamboree Band. Here is our current Jamboree Band roster.

Congratulations of being selected to be a part of this distinguished group. Based on the strength of the recommendations, this will be quite a band.  I am very impressed by the quality of the membership. It will be a rather balanced band with strong players throughout.

In the coming months, I will be communicating specific information to you about our job as the jamboree band. Meanwhile, much general information is already available to you in the 2013 Jamboree Staff Guide. You can find this at the Jamboree website. https://summit.scouting.org/en/Jamboree2013/Pages/default.aspx    on the right side, choose staff, and at the bottom click on 2013 Jamboree Staff Guide. I will communicate specific details to you as they become available.  Be sure to meet any deadlines for medicals, payments and such. You should also begin to start thinking about your transportation to and from the jamboree. I will announce the report date in my next email.

Organizationally, the band is assigned to the Stadium (Arena) Experience Team which is a part of the Summit Program Leadership Action Team or SPLAT for short. This group is responsible for planning the many activities that we will be a part of.

We were asked to use technology to a greater degree at this jamboree and so we will. Our primary means of communicating will be by email. We will use our website jamboband.org, and we plan to get you much of your music via electronic files.

The band still has openings for a baritone player and 2 flutes,  so if you know of any good players that might be iterested, please have them get in touch with me.

Expect to hear from me again in the coming weeks with your report date.

I look forward to working with you for a great Jamboree experience.
